Mt. Pleasant vs Lapeer Predictions

Starting this week, the guys and I are going to predict how the week’s matchup will go for the Oilers! This weeks predictions are as follows…

Matt: Lapeer 38-35
I am going to give Mt. Pleasant a little love and say that they keep this one close, but fall just short.

Brandon: Mt. Pleasant 24-20
I think Mt. Pleasant bounces back after last weeks loss. It’ll be a close one but the Oilers win big on the road!

Spencer: Mt. Pleasant 21-14
I believe Mt. Pleasant goes all out with the season on the line and pulls out a tough win to keep their playoff chances alive.

Jon: Lapeer 49-7
I don’t see the Oilers bouncing back from the big loss last week and beating a great team like Lapeer on the road.

Noah: Lapeer 56-13

The bottom line is Lapeer’s run game looks perfect so far this season, meanwhile Mt. Pleasant’s run defense has had its troubles.

Mount Pleasant's Freshmen Football Team Dominance For those unfamiliar with the ninth grade football players at Mt. Pleasant high school, let me inform you all. They are traveling to Heritage tomorrow with a record of 7-0-1, the tie coming against cross-town rival Midland. The last two years have been a struggle for the freshmen team posting records of 5-4 in 2015 and 4-5 in 2016. A large part of this year's team success is because of the involvement Varsity head coach Jason Mcintyre has with the rocket league team in Mount Pleasant. Not only does he familiarize them with the play calling and running exact plays which the high school does, but he also teaches them proper fundamentals of form and angle tackling, blocking, ball security, and basic zone coverages. Caleb Vasquez is coming off his final season of football at Mount Pleasant High School. The Senior Tackle has had quite a journey throughout his time as an Oiler making lifelong memories with his friends and teammates, on and off the field. Caleb was kind enough to do an interview and answer a few questions about the season, his memories at Mount Pleasant High School, with football in general, and what his future plans are looking like. -The season did not end the way you expected it to, but what can you take away from this season? "Of course I am upset we didn't make the playoffs, but I wouldn't take anything back that happened this season because it showed me and my teammates how to fight back and never give in. We started off the season 1-4 unfortunately and I knew people were doubting us, so as a team we all focused on one game at a time and we ended up winning the last 4 games of the season to end up with a positive record of 5-4" -Favorite game/memory
